This weekend is the Nellis Air Force Base air show that they do every Veteran's Day weekend. Nellis is about 5 miles east of us, so although we didn't go, I watched some of the Thunderbird aerial show while doing some yardwork yesterday. They're doing it again today and the loud engines are all over outside as they fly around for today's show. We went to the show 4 years ago with our Boys Town group, so these pics are from that outing (and the old camera we had at the time). The Thunderbirds' home base is Nellis and they're home now for their last show of the year after a world tour and about 73 shows in 2009. I have always been fascinated by airplanes and helicopters, and the Thunderbirds in particular as mom and dad took me to the airshow at Hill Field several times over my younger years. Dad also got me an autographed Thunderbirds framed photo that hung in my bedroom when I was growing up.
Welcome to the Evan and Ralpheyn Jones family blog. The fun got started on Halloween Day 1953, and it's been a great time ever since. Nearly 56 years later, we have five wonderful children, 5 great children-in-law, 21 grandchildren, and 9 great-grandchildren.
